Back in October my friends Phil, Joe, and Scott(ish) told me they had this idea to film themselves for a show on the internet. We all agreed it was a horrible idea. I don't consider myself a writer, but I write. I don't do it professionally, but I keep a blog and have written scripts before. Nothing that has ever been made, but I've done it. I enjoy writing it's not like work for me. A week after Joe and Phil had told me their idea inspiration struck me. I had never written comedy before, and all of a sudden everything clicked. We could turn their lives into a written sit com. In about ten minutes I had worked out episode one and within a day I had a rough skeleton of the "first season". I went back to Joe and Phil super nervous with my ideas, and as it turned out they thought it was great. Over the course of the next few weeks we had done a read through of the script, I had written a second draft. We had done a dress rehearsal and were securing equipment to actually film the show.
Yesterday after one more draft and some quick rehearsal we filmed the first episode of Nobody Knocks. Even though I wrote it and created the "characters" the show was no longer in my hands. Last night Tyler, "Swimmer", "Iowa", "Fish"(I have a lot of friends with nicknames), Joe, Vince, Phil, and Scottish took the script and brought it to life. It was pretty cool watching everyone work. They definitely took something that was pretty funny and made it hilarious. I can't wait to share with everyone the finished product.
So a huge thank you to Tyler, Swimmer, and Iowa who held cameras, moved tripods, set up the lights, and tried to make a bunch of non-actors act. Of course a big thank you to the "actors" Phil, Joe, Scottish, and Vince who all pretended to be themselves and put my words in their mouths, and did an amazing job. Finally, thank you to Fish(BJ) who acted as an advisor on the set and coaching Joe to learn his lines. Thanks guys I hope we can do a lot more of these.
